International Thespian Excellence Awards are the heart and soul of the Maine Thespian Festival. Students have an opportunity to perform scenes, monologues or songs, or present technical theatre portfolios, in front of a panel of three theatre professionals who will give feedback and standards-based ratings. Students who earn the top rating receive an invitation to present their work at the International Thespian Festival in June!
There is a registration fee per Thespy Event.
Students may select and present in up to two areas of performance or technical theatre at our State Festival! Students are rated using the National Rubrics. You may review the individual rating sheets for each discipline on the Thespy program link below. Timelines and format of presentation are important. It is also important to select works that allow presentation in competition format. See the newly improvement Green light list to ensure your piece will be accepted at festival! Students are expected to prepare a "slate", giving their name, school, Thespian troupe number and name of the piece(s) being presented.
